St. Joseph (P) Industrial Training Institute

Providing Employable Skills Training is an area of education taken up by the Vijayapuram Social Service Society. St.Joseph’s (Pvt.) Industrial Training Institute had been providing youth skills training in Carpentry, Steel Fabrication, Automobile, Auto Servicing, Arc Welding, Gas Welding and Spray Painting since 1981. There was no specific syllabus and period of training. Once the student becomes proficient, a certificate was issued. This was valid in the private sector. 630 students have come out with this non-formal training and all of them are well placed within the country and abroad.

A certificate from a Government institute was necessary to get employed in Government concerns and Departments. Therefore we got affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training, Government of India in 2002. The National Council for Vocational Training, Government of India envisages Training in Vocational Trades—NCTVT. It prescribes standards and curricula for craftsmen training, gives the overall policy and programs, conducts All India Trade Tests and awards National Trade Certificates. The following are the number of students who have come out trained in the NCVT department of the ITI.
